Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly in ‘Yellowstone’. Peacock/YouTube
Yellowstone is still not over – or at least not completely.
After the upcoming season 5 finale, Yellowstone universe will continue with a spin-off series in which he stars Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauseron Wednesday, December 11, report of Deadline. According to media reports, Reilly and Houser will reprise their roles as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, a Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan will deal with the creative side of things.
Yellowstone previously spawned spin-offs in 1883 and 1923 , but Deadline reports that this one will be the first to actually use the word “Yellowstone” in the title because it “shares the most DNA” with the original series. Other cast members from the series are also expected to appear.
Fans of the western drama have long been confused about the future of Paramount Network’s flagship series. The network announced in May 2023 that the series would end for good after the second half of Season 5, which had its premiere delayed until last month due to scheduling issues and the dual SAG-AFTRA and VGA strikes.
However, ahead of the Season 5B premiere, reports have been circulating season 6 could still be in the works, or the network could move forward with a spin-off centered on Beth and Rip. When the new episodes began airing, fans couldn’t help but notice that the promo announced Season 5B as an “epic return” rather than the series’ final outing. Meanwhile, in the teaser for the Sunday, December 15 episode, the episode is billed as a “season finale” rather than a series closer.

Reilly, 47, has been coy about the situation in recent interviews, hinting that she would be open to playing Beth again in the future.
“I’m definitely interested in Beth and who she is after some things have happened,” she said City and country in a cover story published last month. “Who is she in peace?” As an actor, you’re like, ‘Ooh, let me do that.’ Wouldn’t it be fun to watch Beth go to therapy?”
Anyway, the Dutton patriarch Kevin Costner will not return for the reported spinoff. Costner, 69, officially out Yellowstone earlier this year to focus on his Horizon movie saga. He also dismissed rumors that he was responsible for the delay of season 5B.
“I gave them 25 of my days for this B thing in November and December (2022). What they called 5B. All of March (2023),” he said Deadline in May. “I didn’t shoot 5B. There was no script. And then things exploded.”
He added: “I left exactly when they wanted, and it was difficult for me. Turns out they didn’t have scripts for 5B. It took them four more days just to finish the first eight episodes. I left early to give them what they needed to get a full eight, and I felt bad that the crowd didn’t get a 10.”
