From the bright lights of Hollywood to the quiet fields of Arkansas, Paris Hilton and Nicole RichieHis friendship is anything but simple.
Since childhood, Paris and Nicole have had a close relationship as they attended school together and grew up in the same affluent neighborhood of Los Angeles.
While their parents have made it in and out of Hollywood – Nicole’s dad is a musician Lionel Richie while Paris’s father, Rick Hiltonco-founded brokerage firm Hilton & Hyland – and both Paris and Nicole paved their own way when they entered their 20s and agreed to take part in a reality show called The Simple Life.
Twenty years after the show premiered on Fox, the best friends remain close and are returning to the small screen for an undisclosed project with Peacock. But before their reunion happens, take a look at the ups and downs of their unforgettable friendship.
In December 2003, more than 13 million viewers watched Paris and Nicole say goodbye to credit cards and shopping and hello to farm life in Arkansas. Cameras rolled as the pair learned what it was like to clean rooms, serve meals at fast food restaurants, work as camp counselors and even do heavy farm work. A few months later, Nicole opened up about the end of the friendship today saying that they had “grown apart” and that their feud had “turned into a much bigger deal than it was. It’s just not part of my life.” She also denied rumors that their feud stemmed from Paris possibly wanting Kimberly Stewart to replace Nicole on The Simple Life. As she said, “It will never happen.”
Despite Paris and Nicole’s estrangement, the couple agreed to continue filming The Simple Life. As the show moved to E! for season 4 and 5, the ladies didn’t talk and just agreed to film some segments together.
In one episode, the duo ran into each other in a coffee shop. In the scene, Paris walked in with her dog and ordered a cookie to send to Nicole’s table. A close-up of the dessert revealed a message in the frosting that read: “Good luck, bitch. The Simple Life it was eventually canceled in 2007.
In December 2010, Nicole celebrated her wedding for the Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden at Lionel’s Beverly Hills estate. While close friends love Gwen Stefani, Ashlee Simpson Ross and Khloe Kardashian were present, Paris was noticeably absent from the ceremony.

Coming soon to the Peacock.” According to TMZthe project is still in the early stages of development and nothing has been filmed yet.

Paris and Nicole’s three-part Peacock special, Paris & Nicole: The Encorepremiered in December 2024. Paris exclusively narrated U.S at the time that the special ode to their time together on The Simple Life and wider.
“To have this 20-year reunion celebration is just amazing, and just seeing how much we’ve grown and how far we’ve come and what amazing women and wives and mothers we are just makes me so proud,” she gushed, referring to Nicole as her sister.
She revealed: “No one makes me laugh like Nicole and I think that’s why people loved the original series, because I feel like people could relate when you have your best friend who you have your secret language with.” … Everyone has a best friend like that.”
The special gives fans an update on their lives as wives and mothers. Paris shares son Phoenix and daughter London with Reuma, while Nicole and husband Madden share daughter Harlow and son Sparrow.
“The first time, you know, we were 20 years old, we were kids and we just had no responsibilities,” Paris said U.S. “And now, both wives and mothers, we manage our businesses and everything we do in a million projects.” So it was definitely a lot to balance.”
