Bacon is perhaps one of the most perfect foods. Whether you like yours crunchy or soft, it makes a great snack or centerpiece for your homemade breakfast. The only problem is the cooking. Throwing those strips into the pan can make for a frustrating, messy time. Fortunately, there is a simple solution. Bacon made in the oven is a great alternative, but it can take a long time to produce many.
However, deep fryers are basically mini convection ovens, so we decided we should try this method. What we’ve found is a secret technique that allows you to make some of the crispiest, tastiest bacon strips with very little effort.
Fryer bacon turns out as crispy as any other method with minimal mess to clean up and, best of all, bacon only takes 7 to 10 minutes depending on the recipe you follow. Does that make fryer bacon the best bacon? We’ll let you decide, but if you want crispy bacon in no time, a deep fryer is the fastest way to make crispy bacon.
Making bacon in the fryer is also simple, requiring almost no skill, very little time, and no special equipment other than your own air fryer. If there is one downside, it’s that the fryers have a limited capacity, so you may not be able to cook an entire package in the fryer depending on its size.
But because fryer bacon cooks so quickly, you’re still able to make relatively large batches quickly with a lot less effort than you would otherwise have to expend.
One Reddit user even suggested placing pieces of bread under the bacon to function as a grease trap, which could potentially save a lot of clean-up time with the fryer later. There are some leftovers from the cooking process that you may want to use later, so keep that in mind when you start putting the bacon in the fryer.

A small fryer can handle a burger and two slabs of bacon.
Deep fryers have replaced the larger oven for a bunch of recipes here. We cooked cheeseburgers, a whole chicken, salmon filets and of course, plenty of wings, fries and frozen snacks in the pressure cooker. That’s why we’re wondering if you can make crispy ones bacon in the deep fryer?
According to TikTok Chef Skyler Paladino, aka @cooksvithskieyou can make perfect bacon in the fryer in 8 to 10 minutes. You just need to make sure that the machine is well cleaned and that you have not set the temperature too high.
Paladino, who has nearly 180,000 followers, says bacon made in the fryer tastes just as good as it does in the pan.
Don’t let your bacon strips overlap in the fryer.
“A deep fryer just makes cooking easier, allowing for more even cooking and control,” he told CNET.
Fill the bottom with water to avoid smoking.
Paladino — who likes his crispy — recommends air-frying the bacon for 10 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. (The smoke point for bacon is 400 degrees Fahrenheit, so you’ll want to keep it below that.)
Food blogger Nataša Kravchukwho has more than 3 million followers on YouTube, suggests 7 minutes for softer bacon and 8 to 9 minutes if you like it crispy.
If you have thick-cut bacon, according to Krawchuk, cook it a little longer: 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 9 to 10 minutes for soft strips and 10 to 12 for crispy.
Placing bread in a grease trap can help prevent some of the greasy mess that comes with cooking bacon. Alternatively, pouring a small amount of water in the bottom of the fryer can help reduce smoke while the bacon strips are cooking. Always keep an eye on the fryer while it is cooking, no matter what you put in the grease trap or on the bottom.
Your mileage may vary, but you can expect to put at least three thick slices of bacon in the fryer at a time. The fast speed at which the batch cooks makes this a more attractive option. Just make sure the bacon strips don’t overlap each other before you start cooking them.
You’re usually looking at a cooking temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes when making crispy strips in the air fryer. It’s just important that you don’t go over 400 degrees Fahrenheit, because that’s when you start smoking the bacon.
