Taylor Swift received a special birthday present from patients of the pediatric hospital she visited.
“We can’t shake it — the excitement, smiles and laughter that filled our halls yesterday as @tailorswift13 visited patients in Kansas City,” Ks a message from the hospital’s official account read on Friday, December 13. “Thank you and Happy Birthday to all your fans at Children’s Mercy!”
Swift turned 35 on Friday, a day later she made a surprise visit to the hospital. The pop star met several patients and their families, posing for selfies and signing autographs Eras Tour merch.
In a video released late Friday, several patients recorded personalized messages for Swift thanking her for the treats.
“Happy birthday, Taylor,” said one patient. “It was special for you to come visit me because I’ve always been like, a normal, outcast kid. So if you come to visit me, it lets me know that I’m not just a kid and that I’m someone special.”
Another fan, who wore a in 1989 concert T-shirt, gushed that Swift’s visit “made (her) feel special” as she made a heart for her hand.
Other patients and medical staff shared their good wishes for Swift’s milestone birthday.
“On behalf of Children’s Mercy, happy birthday,” the hospital staff said in unison. “We love all the support from you Swifties and we know it’s because of you. Thanks, Taylor!”

During Swift’s impromptu visit, she it took time to say goodbye every fan and chat. Several of their parents praised the pop star’s down-to-earth behavior in their social media posts.
“This morning on Bailey’s day 6 in the hospital, we had the sweetest, most unexpected surprise ever (with a 2 minute warning),” one mom wrote via Facebook. “TAYLOR SWIFT came to visit the inpatients today and Bailey was chosen because she requests Taylor songs during her uncomfortable procedures!”
She added: “Everyone, she’s amazing! In addition to her sheer beauty, she was also kind and pleasant and down to earth. She gave Bailey her signed copy Eras Tour book and accepted a gift from Bailey (a diamond art painting). We cheered all morning! I even cried because it’s wonderful to see my girlfriend smile so much knowing the pain she was in.”
Another parent also thanked Swift for “bringing some joy” to her son, writing: “A great way to bring a smile and make a memory.”
