Stellantis will extend the stoppage at the Mirafiori plant until January 20, the Reuters union said

ROME (Reuters) – Stellantis will extend the suspension of car production at its Italian Mirafiori plant for another two weeks, until Jan. 20, the head of the FIOM-Cgil union at the site said on Thursday.

FIOM’s Gianni Manori told Reuters that the decision – which was first reported by the MF daily – had not yet been made official by the company.

Stellantis (NISE: ) said the company was still evaluating its January order books and would not comment on media speculation.

“We will announce the January activities next week,” the statement said.

Mirafiori, based in Fiat (BIT:)’s hometown of Turin has been suspended several times this year due to low demand for the Fiat 500 electric city car and the two Maserati sports cars produced there.

Stellantis announced late last month that assembly lines would be paused for the whole of December and until January 5, due to “continued uncertainty in sales” of electric cars in Europe and luxury cars in China and the US
