A Saturday Night Live a season isn’t complete without a joke — however subtle — committed Colin Jostwoman, actress Scarlett Johansson.
He Saturday, December 14, episodecast member Andrew Dismukes offered a short joke about Johansson, 40, being the breadwinner in her and Jost’s marriage.
Dismukes, 29, portrayed a “bald man” during a “Weekend Update” segment, sharing his thoughts on a new British court ruling banning harassment of men struggling with hair loss. At one point, Dismukes pretended to use a towel to wipe his bare head.
“You think this is funny, Colin? I have to carry some shame in case my head gets wet,” Dismukes said. “(I) dare you to laugh.” I like to see my ass in court.”
He added: “My little hairless hands on your wife’s Marvel money!”
Jost, 42, quickly interrupted Dismukes to end the segment, as he burst out laughing.
Jost, co-host SNL‘s “Weekend Update” was married to Johansson since 2020. They originally met on the set of the NBC variety show. (Johansson, of course, is perhaps best known for her role as Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff in a cross-section of Marvel films, including the 2021 films Black widow.)
“We laugh a lot, communicate with each other and check in,” said Johansson, who shares son Kosmo with Jost. on CBS Mornings June 2023. “I’m married to a writer, he’s a comedy writer. Sometimes it can cross his mind, he’s kind of introverted. I’m an extrovert, so I think the key for us is just always checking in, just asking at the end of the day, “How was your day?”
Johansson also understands that their life can become fodder for SNL jokes.
“Now I rarely watch (SNL) no feeling… not overwhelming panic, just like a slight overwhelming panic because I just feel like at any moment something is going to fall apart,” Johansson previously said during a performance in July 2021. The Kelly Clarkson Show. “And that’s the thrill SNL and for all audiences, right? Because it’s absolutely live.”
Colin Jost and Michael Che’s annual “joke swap” segment on Saturday Night Live may be a tradition, but Jost’s wife Scarlett Johansson wanted no part of it. Johansson, 39, said she “blacked out” when she saw her photo during a “Weekend Update” segment where Jost, 42, and Che, 41, make outrageous jokes about each other (…)
At the time, she continued: “But when you’re emotionally invested in it, and you’re not just having fun with it, it takes on a little bit of a different life.
In addition to Dismukes’ subtle joke about Johansson’s Marvel salary on Saturday, the actress was famously called out in other “Weekend Update” segments. Jost’s co-host, Michael Cheoften sneaks a reference in their annual holiday joke swap on the annual Christmas episodes.
