And just like that returns to his own Sex and the city roots in season 3 with the addition of some new men.
While speaking in Red Sea Film Festival in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, December 11, zvezd Sarah Jessica Parker teased new episodes that will have “growth with new faces.”
“(My character) Carrie has a wonderful story. The story has some big swings and we put some big ideas into those big swings,” she teased, according to Diversity. “Some of the male characters are back and there are new males as well.”
Parker, 59, reflected on the “crazy long hours” that come with it filming a season lasting seven months.
“There are so many interesting stories with additional characters that rightly find a real home,” she explained, adding that the whole process was “really big, really robust and exciting.”
Sex and the citywhich premiered in 1998, focused on Carrie Bradshaw (Parker) and her relationship life in New York alongside her friends Charlotte York (Christine Davis), Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nikon) and Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall). After six seasons on HBO and two movies, the hit series has been revived as And just like that for Max in December 2021.
The revival introduced several love interests for Carrie after the season one premiere killed off her husband Mr. Big (Chris Noth). That same month, Noth, 70, was accused of sexual assault by multiple women. Noth, who has been married to Tara Wilson since 2012, denied the allegations at the time. In response to the scandal, Max cut the show’s scenes with Nott.
Carrie’s ex-fiancé Aidan, who she plays John Corbettalso appears in the revue series. After joining the 2nd season of And just like thatAidan quickly won over Carrie — and viewers — with his charm. But by the end of the season, Carrie and Aidan they went their separate ways again.
Not everyone was thrilled with the narrative decision, especially after the showrunners Michael Patrick King teased a different outcome, telling The New York Times in June 2023, “I didn’t bring Aidan back to fail.
A month later, King defended the decision to have Aidan and Carrie play the long game.
“She won’t hurt him because she knows she can’t.” And we also don’t want the fans to think we’ve done it again,” he explained on the official AJLT companion podcast. “The only way we knew he was ever going to pull away from her was if the greater love — and any parent would assume the greater love — (was) responsibility and love for your children.”
Corbett, 63, was seen filming scenes with Parker for the third season.
And just like that currently streaming on Max. Season 3 is set to premiere in 2025.
