In 2016, Rising Pune Super Giants chose MS Dhoni as their captain. However, the team did not live up to the franchise’s expectations. Fans were also disappointed to see global icon Dhoni having one of the worst seasons in IPL history.
In 2017, the most unexpected decision was made by the RPS management. Steve Smith was appointed as the new captain. Fans took it as disrespect to their beloved star. MS Dhoni’s wife Sakshi posted a sarcastic post showing her admiration Chennai Super Kings.
In the end, the team played well and became the runner-up as they faced a 1-run loss Mumbai Indians in an exciting match.
Goenka shared a personal story of MS Dhoni’s touching interaction with his grandson. He revealed that Mahi spent more than half an hour teaching his 11-year-old grandson at his home.
Goenka narrated, “My grandson, who is crazy about cricket, asked Dhoni endless questions. Despite my suggestion to stop, Dhoni insisted, saying, ‘So be it, I’m enjoying this conversation.’” He admired Dhoni’s human touch and patience, noting how such qualities set him apart as a leader.
The business tycoon further added that Dhoni’s adoration is beyond limits. Even during matches against Lucknow Super Giants, the entire stadium turned yellow to cheer for Dhoni. This reflected his unparalleled popularity and respect among fans.
