It’s 2024 and we’re done with sunscreens that burn, leave an oily film or cause breakouts.
So I always look for one that is light, soothing and offers good sun protection.
I recently came across Skin1004, a Korean skincare brand known for its gentle, herbal formulas with its signature ingredient, Centella Asiatica.

My experience with SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Hialu Cica Water Fit Sunscreen
I’ve always had oily skin, which usually wreaks havoc during hot, rainy and humid weather. That’s why I look for a sunscreen that isn’t heavy, doesn’t add shine, and doesn’t cause breakouts. This one from Skin1004 seemed to tick all my boxes, bought from DODOSKIN website.
It has a very faint, pleasant smell that disappears quickly. The first thing I noticed about this sunscreen was its incredibly light texture. It’s almost like a watery gel-cream hybrid that glides effortlessly onto the skin. Unlike those thick, cloying sunscreens, this one absorbs almost instantly.
Gives a moist, hydrated finish. However, during hot and humid days, too much dew is felt. As someone with oily skin, I have to use a mattifying powder to set it. If you’re looking for something that actively controls oil during the day, this isn’t it. It’s more about hydration and protection than mattifying.
I accidentally got it in my eyes once when applying it, but luckily there was no irritation. After consistent use, my skin felt hydrated and supple, and looked significantly smoother. Also, no clogged pores or breakouts.
When it comes to its effectiveness in actually doing its job as a sunscreen, it’s at the top of its game! I’ve worn it on long walks, outdoor markets, and even the occasional rickshaw ride, and haven’t gotten a hint of sunburn.

Final judgment
Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Hialu-Cica Water Fit-Sun Serum is a fantastic sunscreen that feels great on the skin, provides solid protection, and the ingredient list is top notch. But the wet finish might be a little too much for some, and the price/availability might be a downside. It’s worth trying to get your hands on it, but it might not be everyone’s holy grail. Sunscreen is great if you have oily or combination skin and want a lightweight, hydrating product with a natural finish. But if you need serious oil control or prefer a matte finish, you may want to look elsewhere.
