Randy Moss confirmed that he had been diagnosed with cancer after his son had previously denied the reports.
“You all know that I’ve been telling you for the last few weeks that I’m fighting something inside,” Moss, 47, said on Friday, Dec. 13. Instagram live the video. “And you, boy, are a cancer survivor.”
Moss said he had a stent put in his liver on Thanksgiving last month because the waste was pouring into his urine.
“I had cancer, they found it in the bile duct between the pancreas and the liver,” he explained. “The cancer was sitting right in front of the bile duct.”
Moss underwent a “six-hour operation” that included the Whipple procedure — surgery to remove the head of the pancreas, part of the small intestine, the gallbladder and the bile duct. Mayo Clinic. The retired NFL player said he was “in the hospital for six days” and was just released from the hospital on Friday.
The ESPN commentator, who is currently on a absence amid his health struggles, he plans to continue with chemotherapy and radiation, but for now he feels “good.” Moss explained that he would not be answering any further questions about his condition, but wanted to take to social media so his fans could see him as he recovers. Moss said he is hoping for a speedy recovery in hopes of returning to work soon.
“As soon as I’m well enough to be back with the boys, I’ll be on set.” … I hope I can be with you soon,” Moss said. “My goal is to return to television with my team.”
Moss also expressed his gratitude for the well-wishes he received when he previously revealed he was struggling with an undiagnosed health scare.
“All the prayers, the good wishes, I really felt it, my family felt it,” he said.
In addition to spreading cancer awareness and encouraging everyone to complete their annual screenings, Moss is also raising money for cancer research through its new Team Moss merchandise.
News of Moss’s cancer diagnosis comes days after his son Thaddeus vehemently denied the rumours that his father was fighting cancer. It all started when the former NFL star Larry Fitzgeraldfather, Larry Fitzgerald Sr., announced via X on Tuesday, December 10, that Moss “has liver cancer” and sent him well wishes.
“Let’s show the power of prayer and get Moss through this 🙏🙏🙏,” Larry Sr. wrote. “I love you Randy.”
Thaddeus fired back in a post-deleted post, writing: “This is disgusting. You have no right to try to make private things public for the sake of engagement. I don’t believe my father is talking to you, so check your sources.
