Nikki Glaser reflects on her overnight success after stealing the show during Roasting Tom Brady in May.
“It was a life-changing performance.” One of those things where you’re kind of like, you just never think it’s going to happen, but everything changes afterwards. The next day I was in the lines and I saw my face on people’s phones,” Glasser, 40, said on the Thursday, Dec. 12, episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.
In fact, the attention on Glazer was so stratospheric after Netflix airs May 5 that she felt like a certain pop superstar.
“I felt like Taylor Swift in a few days. I felt that level (of fame),” Glazer said.
Since roasting the former NFL quarterback, Glaser has booked some big comedy gigs, including the upcoming Golden Globes on 05.01.2025.
“Life changed after baking,” she later said in an interview. “The theater tour, a lot of dates on my tour, which is so much fun.
In May, Glasser infamously took aim at Brady in a wild roast that mocked him divorce from the model Gisele Bundchen and his loss of $30 million in cryptocurrency. “You have seven rings.” Well, eight now that Gisele got hers back,” she joked at one point.
Following the release of the Netflix special, Brady, 47, shared his regret about participating in a roast because of the effect jokes about his difficult relationships had on his children. (Brady and Bundchen, 44, share son Benjamin, 14, and daughter Vivian, 12.) The quarterback also shares son John “Jack” Edward Thomas Moynahan, 17, with ex Bridget Moynahan.)
“I loved it when they joked about me.” I thought they were so fun,” Brady told “The Pivot Podcast” in May. “I didn’t like the way he was affecting my children.” So the hardest part is, like, the bittersweet aspect when you do something that you think is one-way, and then all of a sudden you realize that I wouldn’t do it again because of the way it affected, actually, the people that I care about the most the world.”
Speaking of “Fresh Air” podcast. in July, Glasser responded to Brady’s comments: “As far as Tom Brady is concerned … because he said it, it’s like, unless you tell me things are off limits, I’m going there.” I have a license. I have your consent. … I can’t believe the places my mind will go.”
She also said in May Today with Hoda and Jenna“I feel that maybe he didn’t consider the reaction of his family and how it would affect them, and I understand that.”
