Manchester United will be looking to win their first Premier League away game below Reuben Amorim when they travel to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City on Sunday afternoon. 195. The Manchester derby is the best event of the weekend in the top flight.
It is certainly a good time for the Red Devils to meet their bitter rivals. Pep Guardiola’s team has have won just one game in their last tenmost unexpected form, and something United can capitalize on.
Amorim’s men were not in the best shape themselves, and they were won three games out of six during his current mandate. The trip to the Etihad is a chance for them to turn their form around and right some mistakes from last season.
Under the tutelage of former manager Eric ten Haag, the Red Devils suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of their biggest rivals in East Manchester. Goals from Erling Haaland and two from Phil Foden were enough to sink United.
However, United actually took the lead, thanks to a phenomenal strike from the home hero Marcus Rashford.
The United academy graduate, who hails from Wythenshawe, smashed Bruno Fernandes’ dismissal well outside the area. He hit the crossbar and into the back of the net, leaving goalkeeper Ederson with no chance.
It was as if Foden saw Rashford’s wonder strike and tried to top it with a fantastic left-footed strike from distance outside the penalty area. The England international stepped into the box and fired home to give City the lead, with Haaland getting in on the action after United made a mess at the back.

It was a very frustrating day at the office for the Red Devils, who will now be hoping to make amends for last season’s defeat on Sunday afternoon at Amroim.
As for the team news from the Red side of Manchester ahead of the derby, Amroim could count on one of their most experienced players to return to the squad. That man is Jonny Evans, who has been injured since the new manager’s first game against Ipswich Town.
When asked about the defender in preparation for the matchthe former Sporting manager confirmed that he is “already training”. It certainly suggests that there could be some involvement of United’s heroics.
However, one player who is unlikely to return for the short trip to East Manchester will be Luke Shaw. The left-back picked up an injury in the Premier League match against Everton, it has been confirmed £150k a week star will be unavailable on Sunday afternoon.
However, the United manager confirmed that no one else was injured in United’s last match against Viktoria Plzen. Amorim explained that United had come through the trip to the Czech Republic unscathed and said “everyone will be fit and ready to win” against City.
It will be fascinating to see who lines up for United from the start. Of course, Andre Onana will be in goal, trying to put two mistakes in his last two outings behind him. Lisandro Martinez may not start as one of the three center backs due to a potential height mismatch against Erling Haaland, so Lenny Ioro could get the nod.
Kobi Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte could again pair up in midfield, with Amado moving back to right-back to accommodate Mason Mount as one of the ten, alongside Bruno Fernandes.
That leaves Rashford’s place in the side questionable. He has struggled for form of late and could miss out on a starting berth against City, despite the fact that six goals against them throughout his career, including one in his first Manchester derby.
Man United predicted full squad: Onana, Ioro, De Ligt, Mazraoui; Amad, Ugarte, Mainoo, Dalot; Mount, Fernandes; Hoylund.
