Liverpool are in talks to sign “the best player in Europe”

Liverpool returned to Premier League action in disappointing fashion on Saturday as we settled for a 2-2 draw with Marco Silva’s Fulham.

The title-chasing Reds had to play most of the contest with ten men after Andrew Robertson was shown an early red card, which saw some of the points he had to collect come the end of the game.

As much as Robertson has let himself down as an experienced figure in Arne Slott’s camp, nobody can accuse Mohamed Salah of not being at his best this season, even with his contract situation up in the air.

Salah’s importance in Liverpool

Despite being 32 years old, the Egyptian maverick shows no signs of rust when pulling on a Reds shirt and Salah helped himself to an assist in this draw against the Cottagers.

He was still wonderful against the Londoners, shooting three shots on goal, but the usually powerful forward would have to settle for just an assist after playing Cody Gakpo into space for Liverpool’s opener in a thrilling contest.

If Liverpool’s towering No.11 had found his back on Saturday, that would have been it eight league games on the spin for Salah where he scored and the forward aged like fine wine on Merseyside.

The total has an astonishing 16 goals and 13 assists next to his name from just 23 matches, with anxiety levels now rising, there is little doubt whether he will stay at Liverpool past this season or whether a new suitor will come and snap him up.

If the latter becomes an unfortunate reality for Slott and Co., they could do a lot worse than securing the services of this explosive star as his replacement.

Liverpool are looking for a dream replacement for Salah

According to the report by journalist Graham Bailey the leading Reds have informed Barcelona that they will be done for if a Rafinha move finally comes through.

The report further reveals that Arsenal and Manchester City – along with Liverpool – have made inquiries about the mesmerizing Brazilian in the summer. The three sides are still interested in the player and are reportedly in talks with agents regarding a potential move in 2025.

Well known to fans in England for his heroics while at Leeds United under Marcelo Bielsa, Liverpool will also be following the ever-entertaining winger when you look at how well he has settled in Spain.

Raphinha has been putting up Salah-like numbers for Hansi Flick’s giants this season to date, with the possibility growing that he could be the exact replacement Slott’s men are looking for if their prized servant leaves the building.

Very similar when comparing their attacking performances over the last year using FBRef, in addition to the fact that Raphinha has significantly contributed just two goals to Salah’s tally in 2024/25, the South American could be just what Liverpool need to soften any blow that could well get in their way.

Rafa’s stunning goal and number of assists even marked him as “The best player in Europe in 24/25” from Sky Sports reporter Dougie Critchley, despite Salah lighting up the Premier League.

It would be a real blow to the system if Liverpool were to lose their magnificent striker, but if Rafinha then comes in, that gaping wound could be solved quite quickly.
