Lady A’s Hilary Scott shares the secret behind her nearly 13-year marriage to Chris Tyrrell


Lady A‘s Hilary Scott she continues to feel only gratitude towards her husband Chris Tyrrell.

“We’ll be married 13 years in January and I feel like it’s so interesting how we really balance each other so well,” Scott, 38, exclusively said Us Weekly when celebrating his new holiday song “Hard to wait for Christmas” with her 11-year-old daughter Eisele Kaie. “The gratitude I feel in my heart for him and our marriage and where we are now, but even for what comes next? I feel so lucky that he chose me.”

While the couple has their hands full parenting three daughtersincluding 6 year old twins Betsy and Emory, and Scott and Tyrell continue to prioritize their quality time together.

“We try to have dates at least once a month,” Scott said before taking the stage at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville for Opry Country Christmas on Dec. 5. “Twice a month we go out and have a small group with a group of couples and it’s a 40 minute drive there and home.” Sometimes it’s a 40-minute drive, dinner and home to just talk, share and be with each other.”

When their anniversary arrives in January 2025, the couple will head to Colorado where they plan to “clear our heads, think and dream about the future.”

“We get to a season in our life where it’s like, OK, what do we do, what do we do? What do we want to do in the next 10 to 20 years? she said. “We’re excited to think about the future and plan for it.”

While romance is a priority, making magical memories with their daughters is also high on Scott and Tyrell’s to-do list.

This holiday season, the whole family came together to star in the music video for Scott and Eisel’s holiday song, “Hard to Wait for Christmas.”

“I feel like the most representative person in our house every day, just at the dance party,” Scott joked U.S about the video. “One of the girls is rollerblading through the house, and the other is on a scooter, and that’s exactly us.” If anyone’s wondering what it’s like to be in our house, it was on set because it’s basically our house every day.”

When mom or dad needs a short break to rest and recharge, there’s no judgment. Scott was quick to credit Tyrell for stepping up when he needed to refuel. She is also happy to do the same in return when needed.

“There have been seasons in our life, especially since the twins came along, when we’ve felt very overwhelmed and (asked, ‘How can we do this?'”) Scott said. “But I will say that this season that we’re in right now is precious.

While things can still get complicated as their children explore different extracurricular activities, both Scott and Tyrell try to build their girls up, “encourage who they are becoming” and “explore what they love.”

“They’re so much fun right now,” she said. “I’m very, very grateful to have a partner where there’s just mutual respect and open communication and to be able to go through this parenting journey with him, because it’s a journey.”
