They also had to consider some less desirable creaters. “There are a lot of wild animals and a deer, so we had to plant things that a deer wouldn’t chew,” said Barton. Lavender and grass were top teams.
Open lighting, including lights of the tree, apartment steps and bright nesting among the balvans, highlighted key features from outside and landscapes. Barton notes that lights are especially welcome in winter, when the yard is more often enjoyed from within. “They’ll excite you for the holidays,” he says. “It’s nice to look at the landscape and see that depth and see that snow shines with landscape lighting.”
