Joey Lawrence and wife Samantha Cope to have proud documented their love story amidst numerous ups and downs.
Lawrence rose to fame in the early 80s on shows like Blossom and Brotherly Love. He was previously married to Michelle Vella three years before their split in 2005, Lawrence later tied the knot with Chandie Yawn-Nelsonand the the couple was together for more than 15 years before the end of the marriage.
In the midst of his divorce from Jaun-Nelson, with whom Lawrence shares daughters Charleston and Liberty, he continued with Cope while working on the Lifetime movie.
“So we met there and out of nowhere, you know, it’s been a crazy year and a half for everybody, obviously the whole world,” he exclusively said Us Weekly 2021, referring to the Covid pandemic. “Then when you least expect (it), amazing things happen, and meeting her was truly the best thing ever.”
The Lawrence brothers — Joey, Matthew and Andrew, respectively — have been a major entertainer since their days, and have headlined the likes of Blossom and Brotherly Love. The couple exchanged vows in 2022 and welcomed their first baby together a year later. In March 2024, Lawrence was considering his marriage to Cope.
“You want it to work so bad, but you just have to be happy.” You have to find that right balance,” he shared with us at the time. “I feel like you’re sad when something doesn’t work out, but you know you have to be happy… and life is short. We are so blessed to wake up every day. So many people just don’t wake up. Every day when I wake up, I say, ‘Thank you, Lord, that I’m awake and I can just live this life today.’
Lawrence continued, “Look, it’s all about trying to be happy. You have to be with the right person. … I’ve been married a billion times and I don’t know, I’m just a hopeless romantic.”
Cope filed for divorce five months later. In her court documents, Cope revealed that the couple separated in June 2024 requested sole physical custody their daughter Dylan. They reconciled in November 2024.

We broke the news that Joey and Cope were engaged, which he later confirmed via Instagram, writing, “We are beyond excited to see what the future holds for us and knowing that we will grow old and super wrinkled together is the greatest blessing.

Just months after their May 2022 wedding, Joey revealed that he and Cope are expecting their first baby together.
“The blessings keep coming. Proud of you baby! 🖤,” he captioned an Instagram photo of himself cradling Cope’s baby.

Joey and Cope welcomed their daughter, writing via Instagram, “1.16.23 🕊💗 ~ Dylan Rose Lawrence ~ Mom, Dad, and Big Sisters are so thrilled for you sweet girl! Cope also took to social media thank her husband for giving her a special gift.
“For those of you who don’t know, my husband wrote me the sweetest song ever and we danced to it at our wedding last year. It’s called 6 PM,” she captioned the post. “My favorite line from the song is ‘just give me 20,000 days, let’s enjoy growing old.’ Luckily, it’s only been 365 years. Cope filed for divorce from Joey after the couple quietly separated in June 2024. According to court documents obtained by U.SCope is seeking sole physical custody of their Dylan, but noted that she would allow Joey to stay with their baby up to two nights a week after he turns 3. Cope too blocked the court’s ability to award spousal support.
