While it is Harry Potter movies are on many people’s holiday viewing lists, are they considered part of the Christmas movie genre?
“I saw this debate on the Internet. Is Harry Potter Christmas movie? That’s one thing for philosophers.” Emma Watsonyounger brother, Alec Watsonshared in an interview with Today.com published on Wednesday, December 11. “I think it’s super comfortable.” There’s always, like, a Christmas scene throughout the movies or most of them.”
Despite the film’s “cozy” vibes, Alex, 31, admitted that labeling them as Christmas was a bit of a “stretch”. He shared, “I think it’s a Halloween movie, for sure. It’s a great family movie, and essentially Christmas movies should always be family movies. So (I think) it ticks a lot of boxes.”
Despite not being categorized as holiday movies, Harry Potter the films contain many memorable festive scenes, from Christmas spent at Hogwarts, The Burrow and 12 Grimmauld Place to the elaborate Yule Ball dance in 2005. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Emma, 34, spent a decade playing Hermione Granger in all eight Harry Potter films from 2001 to 2011. While playing the most brilliant witch of her age, she briefly had to share the screen with Alex in 2007. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
“I was in fifth for about three seconds,” Alex said Today.com his cameo, which saw him sitting across from Hermione and next to Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) during the scene in the Great Hall. “You have to concentrate so hard to see me.” If you Google me, they still list me as an actor for what I can only assume is this three-second cameo, which is outstanding.”
While he and Emma are focused on running their new gin company, Renais, they occasionally enjoy revisiting their time in the wizarding world. “We’ll give them a look,” he admitted. “I also have younger brothers and sisters, so sometimes we’ll get together and give them a watch.”

Emma and Alex are the only two children of their parents Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesbywho divorced in 1995. The brother-sister duo has multiple siblings from their parents’ other relationships.
With the holidays fast approaching, Alex said Today.com some of his favorite memories growing up were spending Christmas with his family in France (where his father owns the vineyard from which Renais gets its ingredients). These days, he’s happy to be spending “a lot more time together” with Emma, whose last film credit was in 2019. Little Woman.

“The vast majority of people have heard of Harry Potter in some way, shape or form, whether they’ve read books, seen movies, or just heard people talk about it. Each episode of the show is based on the theme of the set,” James (38) exclusively said. Us Weekly last month. “So we’re shooting the series at Leavesden (Studios) where we shot the original movies, so what works well is that literally all these imaginations of the top bakers and chefs from the movies come out in edible form.”
