Gustaf Westman gives Ikei’s Swedish meatball proper plate

This summer was executed with playful design Gustaf Westman. First, Paris and the Internet were wrapped by Westman’s funny, Excentric bubble-tire pink baguette – Design so unspeculated stupid, it is impossible not to smile.

And now, while the summer wind came, Westman revealed his next act: a cooperation with Ikea. Starting 9. September, a playful collection of 12 pieces is the perfect example of a common fascination of Westman and IKEA with partial fascination with daily rituals through experimentation.

The world of Gustaf Westman design is never too serious. Swedish creative information of everyday facilities and interiors with playful shapes, in bold colors and humor – prove that the function and entertainment can be expected to coexist. Thus, of course, cooperation with IKE feels natural and cohesive.

The first item of the collection turns an iconic Swedish meatball in a larger star with Blue porcelain plate It is designed to serve a delicious golden brown sphere. His elongated design edits properly in a row. “Design is a simple, substrate with meatballs so that every visible, like sitting on small thrones. And while it was created in mind with meatballs, as well as for many other dishes,” says Westman.

The person in the striped shirt and the aprons keep a blue tray with meatballs and shows one meatball on a fork in the kitchen.

As someone who built a career designed around specific forms of food and thoughtfully nested into their small nodes, I am delighted by the versatile of this part. The possibilities are endless: The plate is doubled as a tray for olives with a round bottom or a cheat with excavation from the white. Turn the function, and the central channel becomes the perfect place for Dandelion or Aioli, surrounded by an arancini or warm focus. However, it is used, this dish is worth sharing.
