The award program is now on the 26thth often described as the “Oscars” of the energy industry, it recognizes corporate and individual innovation, leadership and performance in the energy and chemical industries, and has awarded honors to energy companies from Australia, Canada, France, India, Spain, Turkey, UAE, UKand the USA. For the fourth year in a row, CNBC correspondent Christina Partineveloswhose coverage appears on CNBC’s television and digital platforms, hosted the event, continuing CNBC’s long history of guest hosting the awards gala.

Spanish multinational energy and petrochemicals company Repsol (OTC:) was the night’s triple winner, walking away with Energy Company year and the Energy Transition „ Downstream Award honors, as well as on Award for strategic business of the yearwinning praise from a panel of independent judges for its modernization efforts, carbon reduction and strategic investment in sustainable energy solutions. The judges pointed to progress in the production of biofuels, the production of renewable fuels from organic waste and just one plant that prevents 900,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year and the transformation of 4,500 gas stations into low-carbon alternative fuels. Repsol provided Award for strategic business of the year for their own 768 million dollars the acquisition of US renewable energy platform ConnectGen, which enhanced its international presence and entry into US onshore wind, with a global goal of reaching 20,000 megawatts of installed wind capacity by 2030 and being a multi-energy leader in sustainability.
In individual Platts Global Energy Awards achievement categories, winners included the following:
- Executive Director of the Year honors went to Lorenzo Simonelliexecutive director of an energy company Baker Hughes (NASDAQ:)with the judges heralding his “transformative” leadership since 2017, leading the company to significant emissions reductions and operational efficiencies. Under his helm, Baker Hughes achieved record revenues of 25.5 billion dollars 2023 and secured 750 million dollars in new energy orders, focusing on low-carbon solutions. The judges highlighted Simonelli’s strategic vision, commitment to the energy transition and ability to foster a diverse and dedicated corporate culture.
- Main pioneer of the year was gifted Greg JacksonCEO of a financial services and energy company Octopus Energy Groupand the judges called him a “visionary” and impressed with his company’s “first mover” growth from 2016 to today, into a global clean energy technology business serving more than seven million households in 18 countries.
- Ph.D. Katherine Mizrahi Rodriguezco-founder and chief implementation officer of Osmoses, an industrial molecular separation technology company, received Rising award – individualrecognized by the judges for its technical expertise, commitment to diversity in clean technology and leadership in groundbreaking work in revolutionizing gas separation processes that significantly reduce environmental impact.
- The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Jeffrey W. MartinCEO of Sempra, an energy infrastructure company, for his contributions to the US energy industry throughout his career, the judges described him as “one of the most respected individuals” in the field and noted his rise since graduating from West Point and US Army officer leader pri Sempra Energy (NISE:), which serves over 40 million consumers. The judges were impressed by Martin’s rapid transformation of Sempra since becoming CEO in 2018 into a leading energy infrastructure company, improving energy security and promoting a lower carbon society. The judges also highlighted Martin’s commitment to the energy transition as governor World Economic Forum and his previous win for the 2020 Platts Global Energy CEO Awards, which helped cement his status as a “spectacular leader” in the sector.
