Not even half a year after receiving it Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtreestudio FromSoftware has revealed the next chapter in its acclaimed game. The new trailer debuted on Thursday at The Game Awards in Los Angeles. Elden Ring Nightreign — and the game is coming out in 2025.
The trailer shows armored men fighting monsters, typical of an Elden Ring adventure. But the game isn’t new DLC – instead, it’s a co-op survival action game, like FromSoftware press release reads. While it carries over the weapons and abilities from the core Elden Ring, “the game design has been reformed to give players a completely new gameplay experience. Players will choose from unique characters to face a new threat,” the release says.
Nightreign will have a mix of RPG elements like dungeon exploration, character leveling and intense combat against powerful enemies, the release says – which sounds a lot like the basic Elden Ring. The difference? Players must work together to survive three days, at the end of which comes the so-called “falling of the night” when the Night Lords come to challenge the players.
As of release, it appears that the world may remain the same, but key locations, enemies, and weapons may change. Players can choose from eight unique characters divided into different classes with unique abilities.
