Deck transformation: from the dangers of dreaming open space

So happy to have a sister Mrs. Ahedo– No our head of the visual media share your bacriard deck before and after us!

Last summer, we noticed that our deck showed its age. Even when we bought the house three years ago, we knew it was just a matter of time until the deck really hit. Well, one day, the six-year-old foot of the foot went straight through the rotten board! Thank God she wore socks! We immediately filmed him as a danger and they told the children of the neighborhood to be checked.

Shortly afterwards, Chris also visited with his typical direct care, said “Thumbs are so easy to do; it’s just a rectangle!” I planned to just replace some planks, but Chris pointed out the basic rot. It suggested that we completely break it and re-examine how we wanted us to use space, we emphasize that we could do everything we imagined. Then we decided to expand the deck the entire length of the house.

Material lists and costs

Fortunately, Chris offered to help us build it. His greatest contribution, in addition to his initial assessment and passing through some design decisions, provided LINE’s connections for each individual item that would need to us – from wood and screws to light eyelids. For very newcomers Diices like us, this was huge help: we could just add everything to your cart. We chose a tree over the track or composite primarily at the price, and the second, because it doesn’t get so hot.

This Chris told us that we would get our 34.5 feet of a deep deck width of 16 feet:

Grand Total: $ 4,785.12

Love made it incredibly conveniently delivering everything, to screws, to our driveway within 10 days. We don’t have a truck truck, even if we were, there were so many materials … I’ll take the practicality every time! It was also easy to restore any additional trees and return our money (devil).

Demolition on deck and close call with staining

Chris and David devoted almost the entire month November to construction, working whenever they had a free Saturday, morning or afternoon. David shook demolition in June, so we really started zero!

After that, there were many opinions for how long I have been waiting before painting. At first we thought it would be fine next week, but we found out about the water test for real wood: if water pools on top, wood is not ready; It needs to be inquiry inside.

Although we have done a test of water, when we have quotes of different standers, everyone agreed that the end of the march was too early, proposes that it was better for 5-6 months. So we waited for the pollen season and rain spring, letting the filling plants were dropped.

The stain I originally selected was “Red Wood” Cabot, a solid acrylic. The clean number of stain options can be irresistible. I wasn’t worried about watching the grain of wood; I wanted a colored look. I chose online “New Redwood” based on a picture that showed a warm brown square and ordered five gallons (it was around $ 280).

When Stainers began to apply it, about 30 minutes and two spas, I sent a picture of Julia, saying I felt a little uneasy, because it seemed pretty red. Her immediate answer was, “That’s very red! How did you choose this color?!” Sheegeshih admitted to it was based on the network picture. She called me to tell the officer to pause so we could regroup, which they understand. They were willing to wait for the switch if I ran out quickly.

Julia immediately started looking for online for another solid acrylic option. To alleviate stress, she asked if I would consider light color, suggesting “Acron,” Also by captine and available in solid acrylic spots. I received her text on her way to Love. They immediately mixed Gallons.

Because it was an acrylic color, they said we were lucky that it was not a transparent oil stain, which would be impossible to fix. Acrylic is dried quickly, which I appreciated, and it is also a super weather resistant, lasting and heat resistant to heat. Stairs started processing over the red, and relief was directly!

Seeing red, I panic, I worry about how to coordinate with an open stretch, blue umbrella and teak cut. They finished shifting until 18:30, after it started at 11 am, completing one coat for one day. They were impressed with the quality of spots in the cabot, noticing that only one coat is needed.

Our schedule and furniture find

When the porch was placed, I was standing for the deck was so long! Julia reminded me of his long, rectangular basement family room in our old house, where it was hard to define the focus point for TV. At that time, her advice was to share in the room in sections with different purposes. She suggested that they share our new deck to three different zones.

My vision included an external kitchen, which felt more significant than just barbecue, dining room for fun (one of my favorite things) and a pleasant seating area focused on the fire element. We found everything in Love, which was really easy!

The outdoor kitchen inspired by Chris and Julia, but we needed a mini version. We knew we wanted Countertop for food preparation. And we had Ion pizza oven Four years, but they didn’t use it much because we missed a dedicated table. We have found additional Stainless steel barbecue basket To set up OONE, and now it is ready to be set for use for outdoor entertainment!

We also upgraded David’s grill – His dream barbecue With Bluetooth connecting for his phone, perfect for smoking meat and Texas BBK. He had already had a charcoal barbecue, but this new was his main deck upgrades!

The look quickly fell into place. We decided to set an external kitchen closest to the back door for easy access. The dining room would be in the middle, next to the kitchen, and the living room would be angular in the corner.

Finding the perfect pieces

When I imagined the deck, I wanted you to feel the lenses with lighter colors. I created the premise plate filled with the sets of dining room and living room, and Julie quickly helped me narrow the election. She loved Living room set Tiakwhich is actually deep tenant Perfect for tall people. All we chose has a lighter tone and feel elevated. Julie also chose a sailor umbrellaExplaining that the lighter color would look rinse to other light tones, while the navy feels a classic.

Cantilevered umbrella | Polyvod

The umbrella is the main driver of the conversation; People cannot believe that solar power supply with the lights inside! It has a simple power button button. At first I was worried about the temperature of light, but it’s perfect – a subtle glow that is great to mix with candles.

The A polywood dining table is a stop. Julie helped me choose this for the look of tons on the tone! It is made of a composite tree of a polio and is surprisingly difficult, which talks about its significant quality and seems to feel very solid and beautiful. I was so satisfied with that – Love was offered the Assembly that we decided to give a terrifying task to compile eight chairs and a large table. I went on the day of installation and when I returned, everything was set up. Seeing that the table was almost the same color because the deck brought me happy tears (I was so much relief that we changed the deck color)!

Handware | Glasses

For everyone wondering, our fireplace has no chimney, so the aluminum thing on the side of the house is a fan. Chris thoughtfully built the structure around him to prevent him from getting out of walk (you can see the right of storage box in the picture below).

Another favorite feature is Solar floor lamp– It looks like an interior lamp, it’s like a chic! It also has a power key and really makes the department of the living room as an extension of our inner space. Except for an additional layer of ambience except fire pit!

A fire pit He was high on our wish list. We wanted one who could sit on the deck rather than in the ground. Love had a lot of options, and we chose one that connects to the can propane and has Cover it pairs as the ultimate tableRecording!

The fire pit It has a connection with a provoking tank in the photo below. I’m not ready to make permanent holes on the deck to make it hidden, but that’s a little!

I was worried about the lack of greenery, so I bought two faux plants (a Bokwood and a cedar) From love and complemented by other plants from the kindergarten to add life.

When Chris drew plans, he asked the lighting. I immediately said yes. He proposed Post Cap lights that automatically turns on at night, which looks very complete.

From the danger zone to our dream external haven, our transformation of the deck was filled with an unexpected reversal, useful friends and lots of learning. What started with rotten wood and cautiously with a culminated beautiful, extended space perfect for dining, jumping and memories.

It is proof that with a small sight (and lots of smoke of spirit) you can turn even the most terrible home projects in spaces that will love for years. I’ve already hosted some friends for cooking girls and it was just like that and the magic-yard of the fun season just started!
