One of the most common questions I received during my absence of blog was: “When will you return and finally divide your parental Extension of the apartment? “

I thought and researched thoroughly (in my usual way of overcoming things), a lot of options for shelves. From the basic pines from the local hardware store, to reject the tree from the yard with rescue, to reject the tree sitting in the fall behind the house of my parent (literally!) And even Makalanda. Everyone wasn’t right right, ticklish to the source, it was hard to work and / or overly expensive.

And then I had an idea …

At the same time, I was thinking about the shelves of the expansion of the apartments on which we worked on staging My late house of mother-in-law. She had an old coffee table that didn’t need and no one wanted. Hmmm, maybe I could switch it?

He had a beautiful solid of a wood that was thick enough to create a shelves with a substance, wide enough to divide into two shelves that I need and long enough to cover the main gaps of the closet.

So … free floating shelves come!

Tip: While I was lucky I already have this table if you want to create your favorable floating shelves, do not hesitate to buy used to used, check the edge and see online furniture options. So many beautiful wood ends unnecessarily at the landfill.

The first thing I did was isolate the top. It meant to remove legs and aprons. What was easily enough, although a little fine, because there was a copious amount of glue and about two thousand nails!

Due to the fact that my table was curved and tilted on the rim, I had to need to keep it by switching edges. Of course, if you work with a table of square placed, then you will come to this step. Yes you.

Once I have a nice rectangular plate, I cut two boards to the length I needed (to fit in between the upper cabinet) and at the depth I wanted (I decided to 25cm / 10 “).

Then everybody was given a really good sand to remove the orange varnish and return back to the raw wood.

I’m not sure what kind of tree it is really wonderful. Nice and thickly with a long subtle grain.

Under different circumstances, I may have retained the polish shelves, although they were then yellow, so I caused a warm light patch on a ton better with the oak floor in the room. I’m sorry, although I can’t remember the names of the stain I used!

To hover the shelf, not to practice through pressed tin in the back, they are actually attached via side cabinets (which are attached to wall students). Not only does that give them fantastic strength, it saves them to be immersed at the front, which can be a common question with floating shelves.

Of course, if you don’t have barbed closets to fasten your floating shelves, they can be successfully attached via the last wall. Just make sure it is well done.

I could fill the shelves with a lot of beautiful decor, although given the tea cuisine there is no huge, it makes sense to them mainly functional objects such as dishes and glassware. This allows more space for food groceries and so on, when the apartment is in practical use.

At the same time, I don’t expect them to always be super neat and tidy, choosing simple and neutral objects hard to go wrong from a cosmetic perspective.

Most of what I involved is the basis of Kmart and the target, with my usual vintage scattering is found for a feeling that feels in the budget.
