This home at Northampton, England, had a kitchen with neighboring dining area and living room in the conservatory, but felt gloomily and cramped. The owner, who lives here with his two sons, found the interior designer Eleni Fantis to Huzzz and asked to review the design. “(Owner) wanted Real family space, with defined areas, But where everyone could get together, cook, to entertain and enjoy being together ” Fantis says.
The kitchen is the heart of space and it was important that it was somewhere that the owner could feel relaxed and enjoy making food, entertainment and teaching their boys to cook.
Fortunately, it was opposite the sink through the door, so he didn’t have to find a space for washing the device.
He made several use of short walls with a full height pantry agent – one of the key requirements of owners – refrigerators and cabinets above and below a combination and standard furnaces.
Kerr has stopped stopped the maximum feeling of space. “Having units on the ceiling makes the room smaller – when you can’t see the top wall, it closed everything – so we left the gap,” he says.
White doors are wrapped in vinyl, making them robust, and the white contour is a durable quartz. Kerr went with a curved ceramic sink to add interest.
Fantid chose pretty pink and blue back tiles. “The owner) didn’t really have a sample in her home, so I wanted to turn on some delicate samples so I wouldn’t overwhelm her,” she says.

“Usually (COOKTOP) would go on the back wall, but because there was no space, it was the only way to do it. It seems to make a little more special. It makes the kitchen feel comfortable and happens that the kitchen really happens to be well in the morning.”
Wood-look luxury floors for vinyl floors well with oak shelves and looks and feels warmer than original tiles.
“(Owner) wanted to fit as many seats as we could,” Pubber He says. “We created a circular shape so that people sit as social without sitting in line.” This Section Countertop is an oak, giving it a sense of desk.
The induction kitchen panel has a deck ventilation system that opened through the wall. “Extractor hanging from the ceiling would block the room” Pubber He says.

Kerr has inserted the wine fridge and another closet in the peninsula unit. Nor is it obvious from the housing area, but help maximize storage.
The upholstered bench offers an extra place to sit when the guests are ready.
Before: It was originally the dining room in the small room to the left and the residential area was in the Conservatory to the right.
After: Fantis had most of the wall between two spaces removed. Seated space for seating near French windows and moved the dining room in the conservatory.
The light can now cirate between spaces, making them feel brighter and greater.
The large armchair between the living room and the kitchen is key to the color scheme. “The flower fabric was actually the beginning of the whole design and the press was velvet” Fantis He says. “(Owner) liked so much, I persuaded the supplier to sell me extra (fabrics), which we used for some of the rolls.”
The original dark red curtains were replaced for these pale blue, which fit with fresh, light color schemes and less dominated.
The conservatory roof was badly lined in the past, so the Fantid replaced that.
