Brandi Glanville she shared that parasites were the cause of her recent health problem.
“Honestly, I’ve had so many doctors and I’ve had so many tests… I’ve had $10,000 worth of lab work done,” The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, 52, said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight published on Tuesday, December 10. “I’ve done every test under the sun… They’re like, ‘It could be a parasite.’ That, you know, is new.”
Glanville explained that before the doctor theorized that she was potentially infected with a parasite, she experienced “swelling” and “couldn’t speak.” When she sought treatment, some medical professionals thought the problem might have been old facial fillers that were dissolving. However, Glanville stated that she hadn’t done any fillers in a while and the first one had already dissolved.
“I’ve been on medication this whole year. I don’t hang out,” she told the publication. “I’m not going out and just spending all my money trying to figure out what’s wrong with me.”
Glanville admitted she has already spent about “$70,000” trying to fix the problem. She added that the financial situation is “stressful” because she has not been able to work for the past two years due to health problems.
While Glanville doesn’t know exactly how she contracted the parasite, she believes it may have happened while she was in Morocco filming. Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip. (Glanville was accused of sexual harassment Caroline Manzo while they were filming the series in 2023. She has denied the allegations, but the season has yet to air.)
“The food was left for us for hours and some of it was meat. In Morocco,” she told the publication and explained to her symptoms began to appear once she got home. “Six months after I got back from Morocco I started having this thing with the speech and the swelling, it started in July and we’re still trying to figure it out.
According to Glanville, she has a decent idea of where the parasite lives under her face. Although she could not see the organism with her own two eyes, she could see and feel it move. If Glanville “messes with it,” it will jump to another area and appear as “tiny bubbles popping” on her skin.
In addition to affecting her face, Glanville said the parasite also produces a lot of fluid that her lymph nodes can’t drain properly.
When it comes to treatment, Glanville is open to surgery to remove it, but her doctors are opting for non-invasive methods first. Glanville admitted that she was able to find temporary relief with antibiotics that lasted about “five days.”
“I wanted to stop (the medication) because it cost about $2,000 a week,” she reflected. “I did it for six weeks and it came back.”
Earlier this month, Glanville came out on social media give an update about her fight for health. She tweeted a selfie of her swollen face and revealed that doctors believe it could be caused by a parasite.
“What happened?” I wish I knew I was in and out of the hospital this last (sic) year 1/2 spent almost every dollar I have trying to figure it out,” she wrote via X on Saturday, December 7. “Some dr. They say I have a parasite jumping around my face. Some say it’s edema caused by stress. I personally say Bravo.”
