Tom SelleckCommissioner Frank Regan will not retire Blue Bloods series finale — but his intensity level at work will be heightened.
“Business as usual in the fact that he’s still the commissioner of New York, but the stakes are definitely raised,” Blue Bloods a writer Jack Ciapciak exclusively narrated Us Weekly on Tuesday, December 10, the series finale, which airs on Friday, December 13.
Ciapciak teased that when Frank “is given the keys to the city by the mayor” it doesn’t make his job any easier.
In a brief preview of the episode he shares TVLine on Tuesday, Frank appears to briefly take control of the city after Mayor Chase (Dylan Walsh) was hospitalized.
“I don’t think I can do it, Mr. Mayor,” Frank tells Chase in the clip as the mayor sits bleeding in a hospital bed, seemingly hinting at a big responsibility. “You can. You’ve done that to me a million times. Get us out of this,” Chase replies.
Frank “definitely rose to the occasion,” assured Chapciak U.Srepeating: “It is business as usual but that job is big, and you will see the rest.”
After 14 seasons, Blue Bloods says goodbye on Friday with a jam-packed episode called “End of Tour.” According to the photos previously reported by CBSepisode will also land on Jamie Regan (Will Estes) wife, Eddie Janko (Vanessa Rai), in the hospital.
“Eddie has always been one of my favorite characters to write because Vanessa Ray is such a great actress and so much fun to work with on set,” said Czapciak U.Sreflecting on the character’s journey since then joined the cast in season 4. “It’s been so amazing over the years to watch.” Eddie find her place in the Reagan family and settled down and started standing up for herself.”
The writer noted that Edie has overcome a lot since becoming Regan and that her evolution will come to a head in the finale. “This episode is a great episode for Eddie. “Vanessa Ray has risen to the occasion and is playing great,” he teased.
According to the latest images, Eddie and the rest of the Reagans will later attend a police funeral after working together on the last case.
“It’s all hands on deck for the Reagan family as they race to stop the city’s deadly mayhem when New York’s gangs unite to demand amnesty for the release of their jailed members and those awaiting trial,” the official diary reads.
While the family will cross into each other’s lanes in the final, each will cross they get their time to shine — but that doesn’t mean every story will be tied up in a nice, neat bow.
“The audience will be pleased,” said Chapciak U.Splaying coy about whether some stories will remain open.
He admitted that all of Reagan’s stories are “hard to finish,” but that doesn’t take away from what they came up with. “All of the family members have great stories in this episode, and each one is nicely focused,” Chapciak added. “They all end up in a really nice place that Blue Bloods fans like us will be happy to see.”
Blue Bloods The series finale airs on CBS on Friday, December 13th at 10:00 PM ET.
