Health brand Bloom Nutrition has become a viral name across social media. I saw it on mine TikTok “For You” and on other social media apps in the hands of influencers and content creators. The company is known for its green powder, which it claims to enhance immunitypromotes better digestion and reduces flatulence. I tried it out to see if it lived up to the hype.
I got two flavors Greens and superfoods from Bloom Nutrition powder. As someone who already drinks powdered greens every morning, I’ve experienced the benefits of starting the day with an extra serving of veggies, plus the added vitamins, nutrients, probiotics, antioxidants and adaptogens (herbs that help you respond better to stress) — all the ingredients found in the best powdered greens. Since I’ve been drinking powdered greens consistently, I’ve noticed increased energy, and I feel my gut health has improved as well.
I stopped drinking my usual brand of powdered greens to try out a famous social media green powder for a week. Here is my honest review of Bloom Nutrition greens.
Green powder are a nutritional supplement that helps you get the recommended daily intake of vitamins and minerals found in vegetables and superfood. People often turn to powdered greens as an easier way to get fruits, leafy greens, and other vegetables. In addition, powdered greens often include probiotics, nutritional extracts, and herbs.
The green powder is added to 8 to 12 fluid ounces of water, smoothies, or other beverages that are consumed. If you don’t like the taste, try masking it with your favorite tea, juice, milk, lemonade, yogurt, or protein shake.
I recommend using an electric mixer to mix your green powder with your favorite drink.
Bloom Nutrition was founded in 2019 by a married couple who wanted to create health supplements with high quality ingredients that actually taste good. Today, Bloom Nutrition offers green powder, collagen peptide powder, whey protein isolate, pre-workout, high-energy pre-workout, matcha, mood-boosting vitamins, fish oil supplements, and multivitamins.
For this review, I only tested the Bloom’s Greens & Superfoods blend. The powdered supplement is gluten, dairy and soy free. One 5-gram serving of greens contains 15 calories, 3 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of fiber, 0.6 milligrams of iron and 5 milligrams of sodium. The powder then contains seven different blends of different nutrients. There are 1,606 grams of fiber blend, 1,367 grams of green superfood blend, 648 milligrams of pre and probiotic blend, 572 milligrams of fruit and vegetable blend, 550 milligrams of antioxidant blend, 150 milligrams of digestive enzyme blend, and a 100 milligram adaptogen blend. Depending on the flavor, greens also contain 57 to 95 milligrams stevia extract.
For any taste, a 30-day tub of Bloom Greens & Superfoods costs $40and 60-day tub of any flavor costs $75. That price does not include shipping. However, there is free shipping on orders over $50 anywhere in the US if you order through Bloom’s website, or you may be able to get free shipping at Walmart or through Amazon Prime.
There is also an option to subscribe to Bloom Nutrition and save 10%. If you choose to subscribe, you can have Bloom delivered to your door every 30, 60 or 90 days. You can change, pause or cancel your subscription at any time. Bloom says this option guarantees delivery even during sales and gives you access to exclusive deals and giveaways.
I tried the original and citrus flavors.
Bloom Greens & Superfoods flavored powder is very sweet. Compared to the original taste, the citrus flavor is by far the best. I first tried both flavors with just water and the original tasted too earthy for me. The citrus flavor was better, but a little too sweet for my taste. After some trial and error, I discovered that the best way to drink Bloom greens is by adding orange juice. (I just have to add water to the greens powder I drink every morning to enjoy it.) There’s a lot of stevia extract in one scoop, and I’m not a fan of extreme sweetness, so I needed something to help mask that taste. Regardless of the Bloom flavor you choose, I recommend mixing it with a juice or smoothie. You won’t be able to consume it with just water.
The texture is a little gritty, but depending on what liquid you use to mix it, it’s barely noticeable. It’s especially helpful if you have a whisk or small electric mixer to help you blend it. However, I found that if you don’t drink it in less than 5 minutes, the green powder will separate and sink to the bottom. I didn’t like that because the powder and flavor became too concentrated towards the end of the drink.
I can’t say for sure if Bloom works. I didn’t notice any changes in the bloating (I didn’t see any improvement, but I didn’t make my symptoms worse either). Although Bloom Nutrition claims to help with bloating and digestion, these claims have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. I only tested the product for a week, and there is a possibility that I would have seen more results if I had tested it longer. I also didn’t take it at the same time every day. For best results, try to drink your powdered greens around the same time.
That being said, Bloom might have the potential to work, but the servings of key vitamins, minerals, probiotics, and adaptogens aren’t potent enough. For example, the the best probiotics on the market they contain between 100 million and 50 billion colony-forming units. Bloom’s added probiotics do not list CFU at all. In addition, Bloom has 1,606 grams fiber mixbut the stated amount of dietary fiber is only 2 grams, which is only 7% of the daily recommended amount.
When you compare Bloom to another popular powdered greens brand, AG1competitor contains 7,388 milligrams of a superfood blend and 2,732 milligrams of a blend of herbs and antioxidants. Both are almost twice the size of what can be found in Bloom. Two scoops are equal to one competitor’s scoop. Finally, the nutrition facts on the back of the Bloom Greens & Superfoods container also don’t tell you how much is in each mix.
Thanks to its growing popularity, Bloom Nutrition can be purchased through website, Amazon, Target or Walmart.
It can also be found at your local grocer, pharmacy or department store.
Here’s what you need to know before you buy Bloom Greens and Superfoods powder.
Benefits of Bloom Nutrition Greens:
Disadvantages of Bloom Nutrition Greens:
If you are considering any of the Bloom Nutrition products, I would encourage you to first look at similar products on the market. Chances are there are better alternatives. However, compared to top brands of powdered greens such as – AG1 — Bloom Nutrition is moderately priced. If you’re new to powdered greens and looking for a place to start, Bloom might be the option for you.
On the other hand, if you need a nutritional supplement to help with your nutritional intake, this brand of powdered greens is not for you. While there is added fiber and iron in a single serving of Bloom, it’s not nearly enough to make a difference for someone who has iron deficiency or need more fiber. There are also not enough added vitamins, nutrients or probiotics. In my opinion, it is better to add additional serving of vegetables your daily diet.
