Blinken says he has discussed a Gaza ceasefire deal with top Turkish officials


ANKARA (Reuters) – U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said on Friday he discussed the imperative of Palestinian militant group Hamas to say “yes” to a Gaza ceasefire deal in talks with Turkey’s president and foreign minister.

“In my talks with President Erdogan and Minister Fidan, we discussed the imperative for Hamas to say yes to the (Gaza) deal that is possible to finally help end this,” Blinken said after a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. in Ankara.

“We very much appreciate the role that Turkey can play in using its voice with Hamas to try to bring this to an end.”
