I recently started following a complete skin care routine. Instead of buying random products I could find, I started using recommended products that I actually needed. Some were great, some not so much.
Summer or winter, the sun makes you tan. Lately, I’ve been on a mission to find tan removal options that actually work. So, I ordered the Biotikue Papaya Revitalizing Tanning Peel. It is quite famous here in the Indian market.
With its natural ingredients and claims to be suitable for all skin types, my curiosity got the better of me and I gave it a try.
I’ve been using scrubs for a while now, but I really like this one. Find out how this scrub worked for me in this review.
This exfoliating scrub is blended with pure papaya fruit to dissolve dead surface cells, unclog pores and smooth the way for clear skin to surface. Its gentle refining action reveals the skin’s natural radiance for a younger complexion.
Apart from the well-known Tan Remover Peel, Biotikue is a well-established brand known for its extensive line of Ayurveda-inspired natural skin care products. I tried his Bio Bhringraj Therapeutic Hair Oil and loved it!
Price: Starting at INR 75 for 50g (also available in 75g, 100g and 235g sizes)

Papaya contains a special enzyme called papain that fights tan and it is proven by research. Papain acts as a natural exfoliant, removing dead skin cells from the surface of the skin, even those that have darkened from the sun (your complexion).
Moreover, papaya is rich in vitamin C, which enhances the glow of the skin. Vitamin C is also good for blocks the production of melanina pigment that causes darkening. This dual action makes papaya a good choice for fading existing tans, but also for preventing future ones.
Simply put, this fruit is like a natural skin whitener and exfoliator rolled into one. When you use a papaya peel to remove tan, it helps your skin to remove the tan and darker outer layer, leaving it glowing and even.
Massage onto damp face and neck with fingertips, avoiding the eye area. Rinse gently with water or a damp cloth. Use daily or as needed.
The scrub comes in a vibrant orange squeeze tube (the larger ones come in a tub) with a green cap. The tube reminds you so much of a real papaya with the orange and green. I think it’s so adorable and it’s also travel friendly!
However, the squeeze tube makes it difficult to use when the product is near the end. Next time, I’ll probably take a bath. Most people prefer the tube because it is hygienic. However, as long as I wash my hands thoroughly before using the product, I don’t find this to be a problem.
Almost white in color, the scrub has a thick, creamy formula with black exfoliating granules. The formula is very easy to work with and has a silky luxurious feel.
The scent is mild, which I found quite good. Not too strong or overwhelming.
Using it is a pleasure, and now I spend more time exfoliating! Looks like you are spreading the face pack. I love this aspect of exfoliation the most. You’re not just pushing beads – you feel like you’re being pampered.
Also, I find I only need a pea amount. With just a little product, I can cover my entire face.
My last scrub had tiny granules. I was afraid this one would be harsh on my skin because it had round, big beads. But I had no such problems, probably because of the creamy formula. The large particles really exfoliate your skin and it’s baby soft. The effect does not last too long, maybe 2-3 days, after which I use the scrub again. But still, it’s good to have an exfoliator that’s gentle enough to use any time of the week.
I use it 2-3 times a week. Some people rub their faces every day, and I did it once. I later found that just exfoliating once or twice a week is better. According to the instructions, you can use it as often as you need, so use it according to your skin type.
In general, dermatologists recommend exfoliating once or twice a week. Maybe one or two times more if you have oily skin, but don’t overdo it, as you will strip the skin of its natural oils. For dry, sensitive skin, one to two times a week is enough. More than that, it can irritate and dry out your skin.
After you remove all the dead skin, the skin becomes soft. My face is smooth to the touch. It definitely does a good job of exfoliating.
Even though I’m not very tanned, it removed every little tan I had. But most importantly, my skin is glowing and glowing afterwards. In addition, it is not drying.
Bottom line, I love how my skin feels after exfoliating. As soon as I’m done exfoliating, I put on some moisturizer to nourish my skin.
Biotikue Papaya Revitalizing Tan Removal Scrub is ideal for normal, oily or combination skin as it gently exfoliates without removing natural oils. This scrub is also helpful if your skin is uneven, dull, or slightly hyperpigmented.
I wouldn’t recommend it much if you have very sensitive or acne-prone skin. The grainy texture of the scrub can be effective for exfoliation, but may be too abrasive for someone with sensitive skin.
Also, those with active skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis should speak with a dermatologist before adding this product to their skin care routine.
If you still want to try it, test it on a small area of skin first before fully applying it, especially if you’re not sure about your skin’s tolerance.

Final Word
Overall, I really liked this scrub. Its gentle exfoliation left my skin soft, smooth and radiant. My little tan is gone too. I especially like the creamy formula which makes it so great to massage into my skin. Although the results may not be as long-lasting, it is affordable and easy to use, especially if you have normal to combination skin. It’s also budget-friendly. For those with sensitive skin, do a patch test first before applying it to your entire face.
