After spending several years in Tokyo, the recurring family is an American fourth with a fresh plan, glass extension and respecting Japanese design.

By the time Peter Hennessi and Abigail Leonard, they returned to America after living in Tokyo for several years, a couple was ready to delay roots with three children and connect with nature.
They were looking for a home in which Peter, after working life, in Japan, could enjoy the family, and also wanted to lean into the principles of Japanese designs, they would come to love while abroad both abroad and abroad. Vabi-Sabi– “This aspect of perfect imperfection,” Peter says.

Home Abigail and Peter Cleveland Park in the Washington Cleveland Park Hotel came with a double party, pool and a meadow filled with wild flowers and a stage.

The new home would also be a place Abigail, a journalist and author, could find the balance of work / life, while raising children and completes his book, Four Mothers: An intimate journey through the first year of parenting in four countries (Published Hachette in May 2025. years).
While looking for a house in Washington Historical District, the couple is engaged Architecture Colleen Healey and Zuckerman Builders to help them decide. “These houses, have good bones, but they have about 100 years old,” Peter explains. “We didn’t want any big surprise.”

The firm added a screened porch only from the dining room, which improved the feeling indoors / outdoors. Strong on the open sofa is Boffia, Bellini’s chairs is Heller, and the mat is nanimpiru.
