Ariana DeBose was in ‘awe’ of Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Kraven the Hunter


Ariana DeBose couldn’t be more excited to make her Marvel debut alongside her Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

“Who doesn’t want to act opposite that man?” DeBose, 33, exclusively said Us Weekly while discussing his upcoming film Kraven the Hunter on Monday, December 9. “He is famous and famous in our film.”

“I was very impressed with his dedication,” she said. “I think playing a character like that, of course, there’s the work you do as an actor, but it was the first time I’ve ever had the opportunity to see up close the level of commitment and dedication that goes into physically, preparing for, you know, changing your body, building muscles, muscle toning. There’s a real scientific process to it.”

Physics aside, DeBose noted that Taylor-Johnson is “a pretty comedic actor as well,” adding, “There was something he did one day in a scene and I don’t know if it actually made the movie, but God, I was like, ‘I don’t know how he did it.’ That was genius. It was great.”

The Oscar winner, for her part, plays another famous comic book villain, Calypso, in the film, though DeBose remains tight-lipped about the details of her version of the character. “Calypso is such a slippery character, I think, or at least when I read the script, that’s what I took from him,” she explained. “And I loved the idea of ​​playing a character like that.”
