A historic charm in a renovated country house

This village house in the 1800s in Dover, Massachusetts, had a lot of original charm, but also passed several renovations over the years. Homeowners, parents of two young boys, need help adjustment to the kitchen to work with their lifestyle 21. century. “I would describe the style of my clients as traditional, but clean and innocuous,” says interior designer Jeanne Barber.

The existing kitchen is generous in size, but it had a lot of lost space. For a new schedule, Barber considered things like improving traffic flow between rooms, accommodating gathering and creating ways to live here to grab drinks and snacks in place in front of the work triangle. The goal is to mix modern benefits to traditional elements, and it did well, giving the kitchen what she calls “mood and soul”.
