Ipswich Town experienced the ultimate last-minute winner’s celebration away to Wolverhampton Wanderers after falling victim to a devastating defeat at the death by AFC Bournemouth in Premier League just one match before this golden trip to Molineux.
The Tractor Boys supporters packed into Wolves’ home ground would have feared another poor result after Matheus Cunha leveled the match at 1-1 late on, but second-half substitute Jack Taylor was the hero the crowd craved as he dramatically headed home . a chance from a corner in the 94th minute.
The former Peterborough United midfielder hasn’t featured in Kieran McKenna’s starting lineup since his promotion, but after this invaluable contribution, he could be given more opportunities.
Although a home win still manages to elude the Suffolk side, the goal means Ipswich now have two away wins after beating Tottenham Hotspur by the same scoreline 2-1.
While that trip to north London saw Ipswich bravely pick up three points, this win at Molineux was much sharper and more hard-fought in nature, with Taylor stealing the headlines when he converted a late opener after being found by Jack Clarke from a corner in space.
It has to be the highlight of Taylor’s time in an Ipswich shirt so far, with the ecstatic number 14 on the pitch just 15 minutes before he headed home to send the supporters on their way to raptures.
It’s just starting once this season so far in the top flight, moments of magic like this could see McKenna trial the 26-year-old from the start more often up front, especially as the games come thick and fast.
But there is another midfield presence who shone even brighter than Taylor for much of the tense contest, who will be hoping he can remain at the heart of his manager’s first-team plans.
Jens Cajuste has arguably put in his best performance for the Premier League relegation contenders since his summer loan move from Napoli against Gary O’Neill’s hosts, and this is his the seventh beginning in the previous division.
Rarely losing possession when on the pitch, with just two missed passes from 32 attempts, the Scandinavian midfielder also showed bite in his game to help defenders behind him as a containment option.

All in all, it was a well-rounded display from the Swede, who won eight of his 13 aerial duels on the day to show his imposing nature in midfield, while also showing his audacity to get forward at times with 100% of his dribbling completed successfully .
Cajuste would be rewarded with high 8/10 rating after the match East Anglian Daily Times journalist Alex Jones, who branded the 25-year-old “outstanding” and even awarded him Ipswich’s man of the match.
Also recently honored as the Ipswich Player of the Month for November, Cajuste will be looking to go on and put in even more exemplary performances, with more wins to his name in the Premier League table.
There is still a long way to go before the end of the season, but McKenna will be encouraged by his side’s fightback at Molineux to topple another relegation rival.
Now it’s all about finally getting that elusive home win, with the potential to come when Newcastle United travel to Portman Road just four days before Christmas.
