4 kitchens open up for a more spacious feel

ME Design Group
after: Kikos got rid of some walls to extend the kitchen into the living room and create an open concept. That greatly reduced the feeling of confinement, added light, and made room for an 8-foot island. Kikos also bricked up that passageway to the dining room seen in the previous photo and moved the range there. So now, even though the fridge hasn’t moved, the chef has a handy work triangle.

Other design moves to open up and brighten the space included removing some of the upper cabinets, using glossy white backsplash tiles that reflect light and have a lot more white wall space plus a white island counter. The remaining cabinets, tall storage cabinets to the left of the refrigerator and alcove shelves at the ends of the alcove provide all the necessary storage.
