Cut out the pantry space

Kipling has some advice on how to take the most from your pantry. “Do a list about what you want to store … and measure the highest, widest, smallest and hardest objects to make sure everything has a place and is easily accessible,” she says.

“Drawing shelves or shallow drawers are ideal at lower levels, especially if the closet is deep, so you don’t have to kneel and reach for objects in the back,” Kipling says.

It suggests that they leave the pantry above the countertop less practical because you may not be able to see in them. Here it recommends the shallow shelves and the rack on the back door for spices, spices or – if you have enough depth of the closet – larger objects such as tests for pasta.
